Important Announcement

Posted Date: 01/09/26 (11:21 AM)

We wanted to update you on a situation that occurred over Christmas break but is continuing to circulate among many of the Middle School (MS) and High School (HS) students. We cannot share all the details, but at no time did law enforcement or school officials believe this was a credible threat or school would have been cancelled. A group of MS students were together over the break and a statement was made of shooting up the school when school resumed. A couple of students immediately told their parents and Hennessey Police Department investigated the matter, visiting with student in question, parents and other witnesses. After the investigation, law enforcement did not believe this to be a credible threat.

School officials were notified the day before we returned to school and we immediately contacted parent of the student in question. This student has not been at school this week, has since withdrawn from school and is not allowed on campus at any time. Another MS age student who is not enrolled with Hennessey Public Schools has been notified that he is not allowed on campus for his involvement as well.

We thought this situation was taken care of but as the week has gone on, the story continues to circulate and today we were made aware that another text was sent out by a student who heard this incident was supposed to happen today.

We firmly believe the students and school personnel are safe. We will continue to monitor the situation but if you know of additional information that we need to be aware of, please contact us or law enforcement immediately.
