RedBud Read-Aloud Program

Students in grades 1st & 2nd participate in our RedBud Read-Aloud Program.  Our library implementes the program in a “March Madness” format.  Each week, we read 2 books aloud during their class library time.  Students then use “plickers cards” to vote anonymously on their favorite books until we arrive at an ulitmate winner for their class.  In the Spring, we celebrate with a voting party for each class to turn in their #1 pick.

Goals of the Redbud Read-Aloud Award Program:

  • Build listening and analytical skills using quality, fun literature.
  • Experience concept of choice and voting procedures.
  • Increase enthusiasm and future participation in the OK Sequoyah Book Award Program.
